Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms, and people love it because it enables them to upload pictures and videos for friends to see that give glimpses into their lives. But it’s also useful to know how to download Instagram videos.

Many people watch Instagram videos in passing as they browse through the site’s feeds, but there will inevitably be some videos — such as when a person posts a video of their wedding or moving into a new house — that are worth saving forever. In those cases, knowing how to download Instagram videos comes in handy.

Unfortunately, Instagram doesn’t offer a direct way to save videos from its app. But you can still try these workarounds and learn how to download Instagram videos.

1. Use an Android File Manager

Many Android systems have built-in file managers that store cached versions of all Instagram videos you’ve viewed, giving you a way to download them later. If yours doesn’t include a file manager, download a free option from the Google Play Store. After that, launch the file manager, and go to Android > data > > cache > videos.

Next, choose a video, and change its extension to .MP4. Taking that action saves the content on your phone.

2. Try a Video Downloading Portal

Perhaps you want a less-involved option than the one described above, especially if you don’t like the idea of accessing files on your phone and potentially creating issues by making a mistake.

PostGraber is a web-based option that involves simply pasting the Instagram video URL into the box and clicking the “Go” button to download it. There’s also DownloadGram, which works the same way. These solutions are both operating-system-independent possibilities, meaning you can use them regardless of if you’re an iOS or Android smartphone owner.

3. Install a Dedicated App

Most people have apps on their phones that help them accomplish certain things. For example, there’s an app that bundles photos to organize them, and you might have others that tweak your selfies before you post them.

Developers have also appealed to an identified need in the market by creating apps that let people download videos from Instagram. The appropriately titled Video Downloader for Instagram is one option for Android.

As for the iPhone, Regrammer is a worthy option. It’s another web-based option instead of something to download, but feedback indicates that many iOS apps require jailbreaking your device or watching ads to earn the ability to download Instagram videos. However, Regrammer is free, and it works on Android devices too.

Before using any of these possibilities, it’s a good idea to clean your phone’s memory. Then, you’ll maximize the available space for downloading the video content.

4. Grab Material From IGTV

IGTV is like Instagram’s version of YouTube. It allows most people to upload videos up to 10 minutes long and those with larger accounts to submit videos that are as long as one hour. However, Instagram has said there would eventually not be a time limit for anyone.

Like Instagram itself, IGTV does not allow you to download its content directly. However, there are Android apps, such as Save IGTV Videos, that enable saving the material you find and enjoy on IGTV.

Since IGTV is a relatively new feature, there’s no equivalent app for iOS yet. Stay tuned though. Just like there are some apps that can enhance your photos even after you use tips and techniques for capturing them on your smartphone, iOS apps will probably be released soon.

Saving Instagram Videos Is Simple

It’s true that Instagram doesn’t make it as easy as some users prefer when it comes to downloading its videos. Not to worry though, since plenty of third-party companies recognize the demand in the marketplace and have easy ways to save the videos you crave.

Consider using one of the extremely straightforward websites made for saving Instagram videos first. Then, you might later progress to one of the apps or the file manager method.
