The cast stars Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz alongside some of Batman’s most iconic villains, including the Riddler and Penguin. 

If you’re looking for a dark, slick superhero movie, don’t miss The Batman. It’s set to get a sequel featuring the same cast and director, currently expected to release in 2025. It’s currently one of the best movies on Prime Video, so watch it now before the sequel hits theaters. 

2. Comedy: Legally Blonde (2001)

Legally Blonde is an iconic romantic comedy about Elle Woods, a young woman who gets into Harvard Law School in an attempt to win back her ex-boyfriend. Along the way, Elle finds herself battling stereotypes of femininity, leading her to rethink what she really wants to do with her life. 

It’s a hilarious yet meaningful story that touches on themes of independence and female empowerment. Even over 20 years later, Legally Blonde remains one of Reese Witherspoon’s most famous performances. It’s easily one of the best movies on Prime and definitely worth checking out. 

3. Drama: Saving Private Ryan (1998)

Saving Private Ryan is a renowned historical drama about a team of American soldiers during WWII. It stars Tom Hanks as Captain Miller and Matt Damon as Private Ryan. Miller leads his unit on a dangerous mission across enemy lines to find and rescue Private Ryan. It explores the harsh realities of WWII and the experiences of soldiers in general. 

It’s worth noting that this film contains graphic, realistic warfare scenes. So, it may make some viewers uncomfortable and is not appropriate for children. It is definitely worth watching, though. Steven Spielberg’s directing is superb and the film has a genuine message about loyalty and bravery. While it’s not a true story, it does take inspiration from real events during WWII. 

4. Documentary: Chasing Happiness (2019)

It was huge news when the Jonas Brothers reunited in 2019. Leading up to the announcement, they made a documentary telling the true story of how they rose to fame, split up and came back together. It’s one of the best movies on Prime, especially for music fans. 

Chasing Happiness offers a personal look into the Jonas Brothers’ lives and the unique rollercoaster that brought them to stardom. It also sheds light on the myths that contributed to the band’s break up, including the misconception that Disney created the Jonas Brothers. If you’re not already a fan of the Brothers, this documentary will have you hooked on their story and their music in no time. 

5. Fantasy: How to Train Your Dragon (2010)

How to Train Your Dragon is a fun and heartwarming fantasy adventure about an awkward teen viking, Hiccup, who befriends a dragon instead of killing it. The film takes the classic “boy and his dog” story and gives it a fantasy twist. It touches on themes of friendship, masculinity, coming of age and acceptance. 

How to Train Your Dragon is appropriate for families, but a great film for all ages. It spawned a trilogy of hugely successful movies and remains the fifth highest-grossing Dreamworks movie at the box office. 

6. Historical: Judas and the Black Messiah (2021)

Judas and the Black Messiah is a historical drama about the members of the Black Panther Party in Chicago during the 1960s. It centers around the party’s inspiring chairman, Fred Hampton, and an FBI informant named William O’Neal. 

The film is based on real events that led up to Hampton’s eventual assassination on December 4, 1969. LaKeith Stanfield stars as O’Neal, a Black man who is recruited by the FBI to provide information on Hampton and the Black Panther Party. The assignment tests O’Neal’s morals as he is forced to betray Hampton. This fast-paced film has a phenomenal cast and stellar directing by Shaka King. 

7. Horror: Nope (2022)

Jordan Peele has become one of the most beloved horror directors over the past several years. His 2022 film Nope might not be his most popular, but it is still a great movie. It follows the Haywood siblings as they face a mysterious alien force at their California ranch. 

It’s definitely a unique film, pulling in splashes of Western and Sci-Fi that make for an interesting genre mix. Nope isn’t for everyone, but it does have excellent suspense, a phenomenal cast and a unique message for those willing to look for it. 

8. Kid-Friendly: Puss in Boots (2011)

Puss in Boots is another iconic Dreamworks movie perfect for fans of How to Train Your Dragon and Shrek. Its sequel, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, was one of the biggest movies of 2022. The 2011 original tells the origin story of everyone’s favorite swashbuckling cat. 

When Puss is accused of robbing a bank, he must prove his innocence and catch the real thief. It stars Antonio Banderas as Puss alongside a hilarious cast of fairytale heroes and villains. Puss in Boots is perfect for family movie night and centers on themes of courage, honor and friendship. 

9. Sci-Fi: Interstellar (2014)

Interstellar is one of the best movies on Prime Video and one of the best sci-fi films of all time. It was directed by Christopher Nolan, so it’s a must-see for anyone who enjoyed Nolan’s 2023 hit Oppenheimer. It has an all-star cast including Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon and more. 

Interstellar is about an astronaut-turned-farmer named Cooper who leaves his family behind to embark on a last-ditch mission to save humanity. It’s set in a future where Earth is facing a devastating crop blight. Interestingly, the film is mostly scientifically accurate, unlike many other sci-fi movies. It’s a phenomenal father-daughter story, as well. 

10. Thriller: No Time to Die (2021)

One of the best movies on Prime Video is 2021’s James Bond thriller No Time to Die. It stars Daniel Craig in his last appearance as the iconic British spy. In No Time to Die, Bond is called out of retirement by an old friend from the CIA who needs Bond’s help to rescue a missing scientist. 

After No Time to Die ended Daniel Craig’s iconic era as 007, fans and filmmakers alike are gearing up for the next James Bond. While nothing has been formally announced yet, a diverse array of actors could potentially land the role next.
