Are you thinking of creating a Facebook Page? Pages are a great way for businesses or brands to enhance their marketing and increase audience engagement. Learning how to create a Facebook Page is a simple process.

What is a Facebook Page?

A Facebook Page differs from setting your profile to Professional Mode, creating an additional Facebook profile or joining a Facebook group. It is a Page designated for businesses, public figures, brands and organizations to create posts and interact with their customers or fans.

How to Create a Facebook Page

Creating a Facebook page is an easy task that unlocks a variety of marketing and business opportunities. Below are the steps to create one.

  1. Log In

Make sure you are using a desktop computer or laptop. Mobile devices are not ideal for creating Pages. You must have a personal Facebook account to create a new Page. If you do not have one, find someone trustworthy who does or create one today. Creating your own is also a simple process.

  1. Go to Your Profile and Create a New Page

Locate your personal profile. When you are on it, navigate to the Pages section and click “Create a New Page.” If you have trouble locating it, Facebook has a Help Center with detailed instructions and links.

  1. Enter a Page Name and Category

Once you select “Create a New Page,” add a Page name and choose a category. A Page name can be the name of your brand, business or stage name. Facebook has strict naming guidelines you must follow. Some restrictions include abusive terms or phrases, single general words, improper capitalization and symbols or unnecessary punctuation. If your name has any of these, Facebook will restrict it.

Facebook will also ask you to choose a category. You can select up to three descriptive categories for your Page. The options are:

  • Local Business or Place: For easily accessible, local areas.
  • Company, Organization or Institution: Larger companies that want to reach a wider audience.
  • Brand or Product: To sell something to interested consumers.
  • Artist, Band or Public Figure: To boost their personal brands and interact with fans.
  • Entertainment: Offering services and performances.
  • Cause or Community: Mostly for nonprofit organizations or social movements.
  1. Click Create Page and Done

After you create a name and choose your categories, click the “Create Page” button and then “Done.” Now your page is created. It is also a simple process if you ever want to delete your Page. Do not make too many Pages under one account. There is no restriction, but it can be overwhelming.

  1. Customize Your Page

Now that you have created your page, you can customize it to match your brand. Add basic knowledge in the “Bio” section, like your business’s contact information, location, hours and some photos. Add a profile and cover photo too. Consider making your profile photo your company’s logo to remain consistent and recognizable across platforms. Cover photos must be 150 pixels tall and 400 pixels wide. You can also add an action button to increase customer interaction and link your other social media accounts and website.

Benefits of a Facebook Page

There are many benefits to having a Facebook Page. Nowadays, people expect businesses to have a social media presence. Brands without one tend to be forgotten by their customers. People already interact with each other online, so why not brands too? It also boosts your credibility since your business is accessible 24/7. A Page streamlines customer engagement, allowing you to comment, DM and share your values directly to your audience.

Marketing is cheaper when brands have a Facebook Page. It is free to create one. The only paid tool is Facebook Ads. You must only pay when people view or click your company’s advertisement. Facebook offers insights to narrow down your audience with analytics using a comprehensive dashboard. It also tells you who is visiting or interacting with your Page, so you can better understand your audience.

Once you know your target market, you can create more personal interactions with your customers. Facebook has special social outreach features for that. It also provides a Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, boost by offering keywords to use on your Page. All of this is either free or at a low cost, significantly reducing marketing expenses.

Common Issues with Facebook Pages

If you have issues creating a Facebook Page, consider the following possibilities. Your account must be in good standing with Facebook. You have to verify either an email or a phone number. If you have recently violated any Facebook policies, that might restrict you from creating a Page. There should be a message in your notifications outlining this. Your Page name might not follow Facebook’s guidelines. Double-check them before continuing.

Technological issues could also be a problem. Use a different browser or device and try again. Clear your browser’s cache and eliminate any cookies. Ensure your device and browser are updated. Check the internet connection. Sometimes, you just have to try again later. Most of these issues are fixable.

Difference Between Facebook Profiles and Pages

Facebook profiles and Pages are different in several ways. Profiles connect users with friends and family. Pages help a brand or figure maintain a presence. You can make friends on a profile, but can only connect through likes and followers on a Page. To log in to a Page, you must go to your profile and switch to the Page. You can log directly onto a profile.

A profile’s audience is limited to friends, but a Page has an unlimited audience for maximum visibility. You also have more tools, like analytics and shop features, on a Page compared to a profile. Multiple people can have access to a Page, but a profile is limited to one. Managing a business through a profile does not unlock all of the beneficial marketing features provided through Pages.
