How You Can Watch Dailymotion on Roku Today

December 3, 2025 • Zachary Amos

Users used to enjoy the secret, code-accessed channels to watch Dailymotion on Roku. Although those private channels are gone now, it doesn’t mean Dailymotion is forever inaccessible on the device. There are still multiple methods you can try on Apple, Android, Windows, and Mac.

Why Should You Get Dailymotion?

Dailymotion is a solid YouTube alternative for creators who want a different space or a bit more control over their content’s privacy. People like it because the algorithm helps them actually discover new videos instead of chasing engagement numbers. It’s also a go-to spot for obscure dramas, original uploads from smaller creators and even highlight clips from big hitters like TIME, HBO, Sports Illustrated and Wired.

Watching Dailymotion on Roku changes up your viewing habits and brings you new content. It has millions of videos in more than a dozen languages, so most people can find something entertaining to consume. While it’s geared toward more professional, movie-like content at times, it also offers short-form sports, pop culture and news. Trying Dailymotion on Roku is a good idea if you’re tired of YouTube’s ad structure or just want to mix up your recommendations.

How Do You Install Dailymotion on Roku?

While you can’t install Dailymotion on your Roku TV, you can screen mirror or cast from a separate device to watch videos. There used to be a hidden private channel, but it was discontinued in 2022. Fortunately, there are workarounds depending on the device you’re using and they are super simple to set up.

How to Watch Dailymotion on Roku Devices

Most Roku devices support screen mirroring, projecting or casting, so you should be able to watch Dailymotion. Here are step-by-step instructions for iPhone, Mac, Windows and Android.

1. AirPlay on iOS

AirPlay is the easiest option for Apple users. Just turn on AirPlay on both your Apple device and your Roku, install the Dailymotion app, open your Control Center, select “Screen Mirroring” and choose your TV.

If you want to use it even when your TV is off, enable the “Fast TV Start” option in your system settings.

If you’re unable to set up AirPlay, your device may be running outdated software. You can check Roku’s AirPlay support page to verify compatibility. To view the model and software version of your Roku device, navigate to your home screen, select Settings, then System and finally About.

Your Mac needs macOS Mojave 10.14.5 or later to support streaming, while your mobile device should at least have iOS 12.3.

2. Miracast on Windows

With Windows, you get a built-in Cast function called Miracast. To begin, press “Windows + P” to bring up your projection options. A pop-up appears with the blue text “Connect to a wireless display” at the bottom. Select it, then choose your Roku TV from the list of available displays.

You might not get the option to connect to a wireless display if you have dual monitors, but it’s only one extra click away. Select “More Display Settings,” then select “Connect to a wireless display”. Alternatively, you can use the “Windows + K” shortcut.

You can start watching Dailymotion on Roku once you get the permission pop-up. If you don’t see one appear, your Roku’s screen-mirroring settings might be disabled. To fix this, go to Settings, System, Screen Mirroring, Screen Mirroring mode, then switch it to “Prompt”. This forces your Roku to show a permission window every time a device tries to connect. If it’s set to Never, Miracast won’t work at all and if it’s set to Always allow, your device may connect silently without showing a pop-up.

3. Screen Mirror on Android

While most Android devices running version 10.0 or later should support screen mirroring, the function typically does not go by the same name. It could have labels such as “Smart View,” “Display Mirroring,” “Smart Share,” or “Wireless Display,” among others. Still, it works the same way no matter what you call it.

Once you find which one your mobile device uses, select it and choose your Roku TV from the available options. If you don’t see it pop up, you may have to enable the “Screen Mirroring mode” feature in your TV’s settings. You’ll know it’s working when you get a permissions pop-up.

However, Pixel users may not be able to cast to the device since the phone uses the Chromecast protocol and Roku devices only support Miracast and AirPlay.

Are There Roku Apps That Access Dailymotion Content?

No. Unfortunately, there is no native Dailymotion app for Roku. However, you can access videos from the platform through third-party apps that allow you to screen cast, so you can stream from your phone and connect it to your TV for a wider screen and a better viewing experience.

What Are the Best Screen Mirroring Apps for Roku?

If you don’t want to be fumbling with a lot of settings but still want to cast Dailymotion to your Roku TV, these applications are the people’s most trusted.

  • AirBeamTV: A highly-recommended choice because it’s simple and user-friendly. You don’t need cables and it’s great for watching videos, playing games or sharing photos.
  • DoCast: This third-party app is a reliable option, particularly for iPhones, as it can connect to older Roku devices that don’t support native AirPlay. What’s great about it is that you can configure settings like video quality if needed.
  • AirDroid Cast: Offers unlimited sharing, in-device sound and multi-screen support without installing an app on the Roku device itself. You will need to enter a 9-digit cast code displayed on your TV into the app or scan the QR code on the screen to connect.

These applications are easy to set up, too. First, enable screen mirroring on Roku, open the app and then let it scan the network for compatible devices. Then you can select your TV model on the list of devices and click “Start Mirroring. Once the device is mirrored to the TV, you can open your web browser or Daily Motion app to start watching. Just make sure that your phone and Roku TV are connected to the same wifi network.

Is Screen Mirroring Affected by WiFi Speed?

Yes. Since screen mirroring streams your Dailymotion video and audio in real time, a steady and reasonably fast wifi connection is needed so that it works smoothly. If your wifi is slow and prone to interference, you may experience buffering issues, pixelation and freezing. A weak signal or a crowded network that has too many devices can also drop the connection or cause delays.

What If You Can’t Get Casting to Work?

If none of your attempts work, your network may be the problem. Make sure your Roku is on the same wifi network as the device you’re trying to cast from or else it won’t appear as available.

If that’s not the issue, check your TV’s settings, model and software version for compatibility.

Also, if you haven’t already, enable screen mirroring prompts on your Roku. Keep in mind that while most Roku devices support screen mirroring and casting, this feature is not guaranteed on every model. For example, AirPlay only works if your Roku OS supports it.

If you’re still having trouble, make sure all your devices are updated to the latest software versions. Many casting and mirroring features require specific updates to work properly. The old “turn it off and on again” trick can also come in handy here.

Keep Streaming Dailymotion on Roku Devices

Roku may no longer host the secret channels that let you access Dailymotion directly from the TV, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll never be able to watch your favorite creators and videos on the site again. Once you set up the permissions on your device, the settings will stay in place, so you won’t need to repeat the setup every time. If you prefer not to grant blanket permission, this handy guide is always here for you.
