Some are fortunate enough to rise routinely at the same time every day without issue. A standard clock is all they need. Many others, however, could stand to benefit from apps that help wake you up.
There is an abundance of alarm clock apps that help wake you up in their uniquely effective ways, each one available for Android, iOS or both. Here are my favorite apps for waking up:
1. Alarm Clock Xtreme & Timer Pro
Available on Android for $4.99, Alarm Clock Xtreme & Timer Pro is a highly rated alarm app that strives to prevent excessive snoozing. Featuring a built-in timer, sleep tracker and stopwatch, the app lets you set a morning alarm to increase in volume gradually.
Plus, its extra-large snooze button helps prevent against accidentally pressing ‘Dismiss’ instead and wreaking havoc on your entire day. Alarm Clock Xtreme & Timer Pro is one of many great apps that help wake you up early.
2. Alarm Clock for Me
Free for both iOS and Android, Alarm Clock for Me helps wake you up with your favorite music or sounds. Plus, the interface features the current temperature to help you pick out your wardrobe. Background support also lets the alarm go off even if the app is not running, which helps prevent anxiety that the alarm may not go off.
3. Wake Alarm Clock
Wake Alarm Clock is a free app for iOS that touts a sleek minimalist interface and several different options for hitting snooze. You can slap your phone, flip your phone over or more to turn off alarms or shake to wake. The app provides an intuitive, hands-on approach that can inspire you to wake up with a spring in your step.
4. Winder
Free Android app Winder uses several pieces of information, such as which days you work and the time it takes to commute, to determine your best time to awake. For those who prefer not to set their wakeup time manually, Winder is a great option.
5. Sleep as Android
The versatile Sleep as Android is a free app that provides white noises like fire crackling and oceans to help soothe you into a new day. The app can also work with smart bulbs, so you can awake naturally when day breaks.
Additional features include QR code scanning, math problems and CAPTCHA codes to help truly wake you up so that returning to sleep after snoozing is more difficult. These features are sure to help you wake up in the morning!
6. I Can’t Wake Up!
For anyone exclaiming this Android app’s title, the $2.99 app provides a practical solution. Providing eight different wake-up tasks that you must complete before turning the alarm off, I Can’t Wake Up! provides creative ways to get up and to move, ranging from math and memory problems to forcing you to shake your phone until you feel awake.
7. AMdroid Alarm Clock
Free Android app AMdroid Alarm Clock offers fully customizable alarm profiles with unique smart alarm features, including the option to make your alarm clock location-aware so they only go off in specific areas. The app can also calculate sleep cycles and provide alarms accordingly.
8. Loud Alarm Clock
Free iOS app Loud Alarm Clock stands out for an obvious reason: its alarms are very, very loud. Its blaring sound offerings include a fire alarm sound and the sound of nails on a chalkboard. It’s an aggressive approach, but one that might just get you out of bed in the morning.
9. Alarmy (Sleep If U Can)
Free with ads or $2.49 without ads, Alarmy (Sleep If U Can) is an Android app that also values annoyance in waking you up. The app can force you to get out of bed and take a photo of a pre-set location within your house. Sometimes you just need a task like that to awaken fully.
10. Gentle Alarm
The $1.99 Android app Gentle Alarm offers a more relaxing approach to waking up, allowing you to set ringer volume and other features that align with your personal preferences for awakening.
11. AlarmMon
Free for both Android and iOS, AlarmMon takes pride in its cute aesthetic that features cartoon characters and stickers. If you want to wake up with bright colors and happy, cute characters, AlarmMon is a great way to do so.
12. FreakyAlarm 2.0
FreakyAlarm 2.0, available on iOS for $1.99, is another app that forces your brain to work before getting up. Among the logic games is one that has you scan predetermined objects throughout your house, all while providing badges and performance monitoring to strive for improvement.
13. Walk Me Up
Free for iOS and Android, Walk Me Up is a pedometer alarm clock app that has you take a certain number of steps with your phone in hand before the alarm shuts off. You can customize the number of steps you need to take to shut off the alarm.
14. Sleep Cycle
Sleep Cycle is a widely popular and free iOS app that tracks and learns your sleep patterns to help you wake up at ideal times that result in the feeling of optimal rest. Simply turn on Sleep Cycle before bed and the app will wake you up when you’re in light sleep in the morning, resulting in a nice wake-up instead of a jarring one.
15. Rise
The $1.99 iOS app Rise emphasizes a simple and easy-to-navigate interface in addition to features that accommodate multiple alarms and customizable snooze options to suit nearly any need.
These fifteen apps all stand out with their ways to wake you up effectively. Which one do you think will work for you?
