Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Pokémon cards have gone from a niche hobby to a digital phenomenon. Videos and livestreams of pack openings got more and more people invested in the chase for the full-art cards that can be worth anything from the cost of a pack to a month’s rent. The Phantasmal Flames card list has quite a few of these that rise in value for their art, rarities and usefulness in-game.

The Most Expensive Card: Mega Charizard X

Whenever a Pokémon set includes Charizard, it’s almost always the rarest and most expensive card, and Phantasmal Flames holds true to that theory. As of June 2026, this card sells raw on eBay for an average of $779 and on TCGPlayer for $878. If you get it graded and it happens to be a 10, you could get over $2,100 if you sold it. A 1 can get you $433, which still isn’t too shabby.

The card sports some impressive art. Mega Charizard X spouts blue flames from its mouth and wings while flying over Charmander, Charmeleon and standard Charizard. Its darker color and blue flames stand out in striking contrast to the warmer tones of its previous evolutions. It’s a really stunning card, with a sketchbook art style that gives it an epic fairytale feel.

You can also use it to do some serious damage. For two Fire energy, you can use Inferno X and discard any number of Fire energies from your Pokémon and do 90 damage for each one you discard. Mega Charizard X holds a lot of value for players and collectors alike, making it the top chase card in the Phantasmal Flames card list.

The Current Runner-Up: Also Mega Charizard X?

That’s right — this is one of the sets that features one of its chase cards in a more minimalistic, colorized style. Another Mega Charizard X chase card in this set is the all-gold version, which shows the Pokémon roaring with its wings and claws flared. Ungraded, it often sells for around $259 on eBay and $354 on TCGPlayer, but some PSA 10s can command as much as $2,400, so it’s still a top-tier pull if you manage to get it.

Like the other Mega Charizard X cards in the set, it, too, has Inferno X as its move. However, you’ll feel like you’re playing with a gold-plated card this time, which is certainly a cool addition to your deck. It’s also great for display in a binder or hard case.

What Other Cards Are Worth Chasing in the Phantasmal Flames Card List?

That will highly depend on the deck you’re trying to make. If you’re collecting rather than playing, these two versions of Mega Charizard X are by far the most valuable to chase. After that, the next most expensive card is the 3D full-art of Mega Charizard X, but the price drops sharply to $32. However, there are some really great full-art cards that are still worth looking for if they’re your favorite Pokémon and trainers.

Dawn

Dawn is a favorite among many Pokémon fans, and this card is a must-have if you fall in that camp. It features her in her standard white hat, black vest, red scarf, and pink skirt and boots. She’s pushing a bike up a hilly dirt path, with a gorgeous scene of sprawling mountains and yellow flowers behind her. There’s also a more common version with her holding a yellow bag, but the rarer one is particularly pretty for a Supporter card.

It averages almost $24 on eBay and $29 on TCGPlayer, and PSA 10s can get over $100. However, you’ll probably only want to sell it if you pull a duplicate. If you’re using it in play, the card will let you look through your deck, pull a Stage I and Stage II Pokémon, and add them to your hand.

Mega Sharpedo

This Sharpedo card is an awesome pull if you’re a fan of the Pokémon. The Mega Sharpedo evolution is front and center, complete with its yellow markings and spines. It’s diving through the ocean with an explosion behind it and purple and yellow slashes surrounding it. The art is stylized but still realistic, capturing the full effect of Mega Sharpedo cutting through the water with incredible speed.

If you’re using it in-game, the card has two abilities — Greedy Fang and Hungry Jaws. For one Dark energy, you can use Greedy Fang to draw two cards. For two, Hungry Jaws lets you do an extra 150 damage if the card has any damage counters on it. It’s not super valuable at the moment at $21-$36, but the value can always grow as time goes on.

Meowth

The full-art Meowth from Phantasmal Flames is Pokémon art at its finest. The card is drawn in a more 90s style, using watercolors and black pen to depict Meowth climbing a tree. It’s looking over its shoulder, with one foot and one arm dangling over the branch it’s scaling. The overall softness of the art style gives it a really serene vibe, which makes it great for display if you’re a collector.

For play, you can use two Normal energy to flip three coins. You can do 20 damage for each heads you get. It’s up to chance, but it can be pretty powerful when you’re lucky. It sells online for $18-$24, and a PSA 10 can be worth almost $230. Like Sharpedo, though, this card is a keeper if you love the Pokémon.

Honorable Mentions

The following cards are worth less than $20, but the art on them is too good to pass up:

  • Mega Lopunny: Two Normal-type moves alongside art of the evolved Lopunny powerfully kneeing a foe, with pink and orange streaks and circles radiating from its knee
  • Rotom: Can use the Multi Adapter ability and Thunderbolt on top of a collage of various Rotoms in popping colors
  • Piplup: Another two Normal-type moves, featuring adorable art of Piplup sitting under a small ledge on a snowy mountain, with yellow flowers nearby
  • Wigglytuff: Attacks with Round and Seismic Toss, and has art of a Wigglytuff singing amongst a choir of Jigglypuffs
  • Flygon: Can use the Sandy Flapping ability and Cutting Wind, with art of Flygon flying above a beach with Bramblin, Trapinch, Lotad and Vibrava
  • Dewgong: Has the Thick Fat ability and Slam, featuring Dewgong at the top of a glacier looking up at an aurora
  • Paldean Wooper: Attacks with Trip Over, with art of several of the new type of Wooper on their way to a Poké Mart
  • Zaican: Can use Limit Break, and has some really gorgeous art of Zaican within a forest blooming with flowers

Some of the Best Chase Cards From the Phantasmal Flames Card List

There are some more full-art cards that aren’t as rare to pull, but they’re still worth going after. You might pull a great Togedemaru, Yamper, Nymble, Ambipom, Ludicolo or Toxitricity. You can also get useful items like the Sacred Charm and Blowtorch or the Battle Cage Stadium card.

If you’re a die-hard fan, you’ll likely want to catch ‘em all. However, for those who love the thrill of the chase, these are some of the top cards to look out for in the Phantasmal Flames set.
