Marvel Rivals Ranks Explained (Season 2)

November 6, 2025 • Devin Partida

Marvel Rivals is a third-person hero shooter game for casual fans and dedicated gamers looking to master it. The ranks themselves are staying the same in Season 2, but their inner workings will see some adjustments. Explore more about how the Marvel Rivals ranks are updating, as well as how they work.

The Game and Its Ranks

Marvel Rivals is not an MMO or RPG game, meaning it doesn’t have a constantly active environment for players to go to when they aren’t competing or creating characters. Instead, it is a third-person hero shooter that only operates in teams of six versus other teams of six. The characters players can play as are various Marvel characters, and ranks are the main way to improve your standing as a player.

The ranks themselves are not changing with Season 2. If you’re unfamiliar with them, here is a comprehensive list of all nine Marvel Rivals ranks:

  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Grandmaster
  • Celestial
  • Eternity
  • One Above All

How the Ranks Work

There are nine ranks in total. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Grandmaster and Celestial all have three tiers within them that players must earn 100 points to advance through. Eternity is only one tier. To get to One Above All, you must be in the top 500 players of the game.

Earned points are gathered after each match and determined by the results. Your individual and team ranking affects the overall points earned for that match. If your team wins the match, you’ll get more points on top of your individual performance points. These then contribute to your overall Marvel Rivals rank.

Changes in Ranks for Season 2

Season 2 comes with an initial rank reset to keep the game exciting. All players will drop nine positions, so they’ll have to work their way back up to their original ranking or higher. This also gives lower-ranked players a chance to get to One Above All since it only includes the top 500 players.

In matches, there will be a higher weight on individual performance. If your team lost, you could still earn a significant amount of points when you do well individually. This helps inspire players to perform to their best capabilities up until the end instead of giving up once it’s clear their teams are losing. Points help you advance between rankings, so earning them is crucial if you want to get to One Above All.

Previously, players had to level up to 10 before competing in matches. In Season 2, that level is being pushed to 15. Players must improve for an additional five levels before being allowed to compete and gain rankings.

Chrono Shields are a feature that can save players from losing their ranking if a match goes poorly. In Season 2, this is more readily available for lower-ranked players so that they don’t feel continuously discouraged. Once you reach Platinum, however, this feature goes away, so once a match goes too far sideways, Platinum-ranked players and above will lose their ranking and must work toward it again.

Hero bans can also happen earlier on in the rankings in Season 2. These are beneficial because they allow players to ban characters with overpowered qualities to keep the game as fair as possible. The Gold III rank will feature pick and ban phases for all players, where the team captain chooses the initial three bans while the team votes on the finals.
